Patient instructions when scheduling an abortion:

• DO NOT EAT OR DRINK 4-HOURS BEFORE PROCEDURE (no water, gum, juice - nothing in the mouth 4 hours before the procedure)

• No smoking 4 hours before the procedure

• You will have a choice of pain medications

• If you will be requesting sedation, you should abstain from use of alcohol or other drugs for 24 hours prior to the procedure. Continue to use prescriptions drugs, as instructed by your physician

• Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes and slip-on shoes, and please remember to wear underwear the day of your appointment.

• No children are allowed in the office

• You must have a ride home - Ride must be available prior to sedation - Your ride is not allowed to drop you off and then return back for you.

• Due to limited seating in our lobby please only bring one other adult with you to your appointment

• Although we will try to have you in and out of our office within 1 1/2 - 2 hours, plan on being in the office up to 3 hours.

• Your family/friends cannot accompany you during the procedure

• When you go back to work depends on how far along you are- but plan on being off of work for 48-72 hours

• No traveling 72 hours after your procedure

• Valid government issued Picture ID is required at the time of your appointment
